SAB _ Hello

Here are some cards I have made recently using ‘Sky is the Limit’.  I have CASED these cards.  The one on the left we made at my class on Saturday.  The one on the right I changed a little and added a few twirls of the Burlap Ribbon. I used the ‘World Traveler’ Embossing Folder. Some people brayer or ink over the embossing folder before they emboss to get the effect.  I tried it a few times.  In the end, I embossed Very Vanilla card with the Embossing Folder and sponged over the raised parts with Crumb Cake ink.  I found that more effective.

This ‘Sky is the Limit’ set is great for your Masculine cards. I think you need this set. 🙂

I had a quick play with the ‘Perfectly Artistic DSP’ yesterday. I wanted to keep the card simple to show off the paper.  It was harder than I thought to be honest. 🙂  I used the ‘Amazing Birthday’ set with this.   I cut the greeting with the ‘Tags and Labels’ Framelits.  The black piece I embossed with the ‘Softly Falling’ Embossing Folder. I finished the card off with the Black Satin Stitched Ribbon and some Silver Thread.

HAPPY (VALENTINE’S) BIRTHDAY!!!

It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow. You probably realised that!! We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day that much in Australia.  Maybe a small treat for a special someone.  So I don’t normally buy Valentine’s stamp sets.  When I saw this set in the Occasions Catalogue though it was just the cutest AND doesn’t have to be used for Valentine’s Day.  These cute images are great for the young ones in your life.  What little boy or girl doesn’t like pretending to be a pirate!  I have a few Great nephews that I am sure this will be used for.  On the stamp set I cut the sentiments off a few of the stamps to make them more versatile.   On to the card.

I coloured the little pirate with the Blendabilities.  The sentiment is from ‘Amazing Birthday’.  I stamped it in black on the white card.  Then I stamped again in Real Red and Crushed Curry on scrap white and cut each of the “Happy” words out and adhered them straight over the top of the black ones. The Real Red base card was stamped with the blotches from ‘Gorgeous Grunge’.  I finished the card off with some Black Taffeta ribbon and some gold sequins.

So, me hearties have a Happy Valentine’s Day however you spend it.

JUST ADD INK #229 – RAINBOWS

It has been a while since I had a chance to play along with a Challenge.  I had a little time today and when I saw the challenge at Just Add Ink this week I thought this would be a good one to try. This week ‘ Rainbows’.  We certainly have had a lot of rain recently to relate to this but I did like the fun colours to work with.  Here is the inspiration.

JAI229

Here is the card I came up with.  It certainly took a lot longer than I thought it would but I am pleased with the final result.  I love all the bright, happy colours.

P1140349

This was the first chance I have had to use the Star stencil too so that was fun.  I sponged sections with Tempting Turqoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo.  This was adhered to a Melon Mambo mat and Tempting Turquoise card base.  I added some Burlap ribbon across the front.  I coloured sections of the stamp from ‘Amazing Birthday’ with the markers.  I stamped some again to raise them up too.  This was adhered to a piece of Melon Mambo card and raised up off the white card front.  What I discovered too was the small star in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack co-ordinates nicely with the small star framelit.  So I punched out the small star in Pumpkin Pie and then cut out the star using the framelit around the punched one.  I cut another star in Melon Mambo and adhered them together. I was quite excited about the result.  I punched out some more stars in Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight.  I added some Brights Candy Dots to the centre of the stars too.

Job done! Challenge Completed!!  I hope this brightens your day wherever you are.

If you want to join in the Just Add Ink challenge then head to the blog post here.  There is not a lot of time left.

BIRTHDAY STEP CARDS!

Last week we had a stamp day with my stamping buddies Leonie N, Andrea and Tracey.  They are always good times.  I have been wanting to make the Block/Step cards you might have been seeing around the blogosphere. I had a chance to make them that day. So here are my versions, then I will share you the link to the instructions.

Firstly, using ‘Amazing Birthday’ stamp set.

P1140117

I used the DSP ‘Sweet Taffy’.  Isn’t it cool?? I love all the bright colours in this pack.  A little brightness and sparkle makes for a HAPPY Birthday.

Now another version. This time for the menfolk. I used the ‘Amazing Birthday’ set again and also the ‘Traveler’ set.

P1140114

I have also used the new In Colors – Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist. I stamped the background on the Mossy Meadow cardstock BEFORE assembling it!!! 😉  Then I stamped the other images separately and cut them out and adhered them on.  I added a silver button and a Linen Thread bow.

Now for instructions.  There are a few tutorials you might find but I found this one on Libby’s blog. Check it out here. Click on the link just a little way down to take you to the template.  I just changed it slightly.  Since our Australian card size is longer, instead of cutting the cardstock to 28cm x 10.5cm, I made the length 29cm.  Which meant I didn’t have to add the extra little strip (10.5cm x 2cm) to join the block card.  So I scored the card on the long side at 3.5cm, 7cm, 10.5cm, 14cm, 17.5cm, 21cm, 24.5cm and 28cm.  Cut and assemble the box as it says in the template. I just added Sticky strip along the small tab that was left on the end and adhered it together.  Hope that all makes sense.  I do love making these.  They are fun.  Now I have done these two I will make some more again soon.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny
