WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #26 – SPINNER CARDS!

I have a fun Spinner card for you today for Wednesday’s WOW! #26  I made this recently as a request from a friend.  The same one who requested the 1st Birthday card in the last post.

I thought you might like to see how to put one together.

I was asked to make a Baby Shower card in yellow/cream colours.  I wanted to make something a little different so created it as a Spinner card.

This is the card using the set A Little Wild.  It was the first time I have used this set – and I have had it sitting there for a while! The great thing too is that it has a back stamped image so this works great for the Spinner Cards PLUS it has matching Framelits so you don’t even have to hand cut it.

This is the front of the card.  I coloured the cute little lion with the Stampin’ Blends.

And we have the back of the Spinner.

HOW TO CREATE A SPINNER CARD

1. Cut a card base to a standard card size.  I used Whisper White here. Cut a piece of So Saffron card slightly smaller and a piece of Whisper White smaller again.  For metric I reduce the card size measurements by 4mm on each piece.  For US card sizes you might like to reduce the size by 1/4″ on each piece.  Of course it’s totally a personal preference.

Cut a circle using the 2nd largest Circle Framelit in the Layering Circles Framelits set from your smaller piece of Whisper White card.

2. Layer all the pieces together starting with the card base then the So Saffron piece then the Whisper White.  Place the next size down circle Framelit inside the already cut circle on the white.  See the photo below.

3. Carefully place the card pieces in the Big Shot to cut your circle out.  You may carefully remove the top white card piece if you like without disturbing the position. (Just a tip: If you are unsure you can lightly tracing the inside of the circle Framelit with pencil so you can see where to line it up if it moves before cutting it).

4.  Take the White card base with the right side facing upwards.  Place a length of twine or even fishing line across the cut out circle.  Adhere both top and bottom with tape.  I have used the thin White Baker’s Twine which has now retired on this one.  Be sure that the twine is pulled tight when you are taping it down.

5. Adhere the So Saffron card piece over the top of the white card base.  Before adhering the top white card piece run that through your Embossing Folder if you like to.  I used the Sparkle Embossing Folder.

Stamp and colour your images and then cut them out. On the back of your images run a length of Snail Adhesive on them. Place the front one over the centre of the twine.  Turn your card over and adhere your other image directly on to the first one. You can now spin your images around and let it go and watch it spin.

—–

I made a Christmas Spinner card a while ago which you can see -> HERE.  This was based on a similar idea but I used Designer Series Paper and one layer with the card base.

Have fun spinning.  I would love to see your versions. Share your Spinner cards you create by emailing me them or tagging me.  I would love to see them.

A SPECIAL CARD IN A BOX!

I know we’re in the midst of the all the excitement with the new catalogue but I just have to share this project.  I know it is using retired products now but I thought you might still like to see it.

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine asked me to make a special baby card for her new grandchild.  At that time she didn’t know what the gender was and requested it to be Teal Green in colour with splashes of red. I knew the family as well so I wanted it to be pretty special.  I recreated a card in a box that I made some time ago.  You can see that original project HERE. That card in a box has been repinned 3.3K times on Pinterest so I thought it might just be “good enough”. 🙂

The only paper I had to match the Bermuda Bay card was this retired paper.  I can’t even remember the name of it.  I just found a few scraps of it in my retired paper box. Lucky!!!

I dug out my ‘Something For Baby’ set too from my retired box.  That was lucky too as I don’t have any new baby stamps as yet.

So enough of the chatter.  Here it is.

I used Watermelon Wonder which matched. (Grabbed that out of the retired box too!).

I realised I didn’t get a photo of the left side flap.  That had little booties in Crushed Curry and I tied teeny, tiny bows in White Baker’s Twine.  The sentiment is from ‘Baby Bear’ – yes! That is current! I probably could have used that but Baby Bear was a bit big for the box.

Well it was very well received and I can tell you that baby Phoebe arrived safely last week.  She is very gorgeous and they were all delighted and fascinated in the card.  It can be displayed on the shelf in the nursery for some time to come.

Thanks for indulging me.  Back to current products in next post.

I shared it on a group I am on though and someone Pinned it to Pinterest. It has now been repinned 5,700 times!  Sorry you missed out on seeing it. 🙂

BABY BEAR COLOURS!

I have shown you a couple of ‘Baby Bear’ cards now but I realised I hadn’t shown you the Colour Cards for the bears that I made up some weeks ago.  You might have seen some similar around your blog travels but I thought I would make some to show my ladies coming to my classes so they can see the difference.

Just a couple of notes before you see the colour cards.

~If you are not sure already, when I mention stamp the colour off, it means to ink up the stamp and lightly stamp on some scrap paper to lighten the colour.

~Each of the stamps in the ‘Baby Bear’ set have numbers. You will notice the more solid stamp has #1 next to it, the next more patterned stamp is #2, the more detailed pattern is #3.  You might find that some people stamp in reverse order so the darker colour first which would be #3 and then work backwards to the lighter colour  Play around yourself to see what you feel more comfortable with and what way gives you the better effect.  I found going from #1 with the lighter colour up to #3 with the darker one to be work fine.

~When I note the number below the colour card that denotes the number on the stamp. eg. #1 is the numbered 1 stamp.

~When stamping the bear some people have said they have had trouble lining up the bear for each stamp.  What I found that helps is when you ink up and go to stamp the 2nd stamp, I line the inked image up with the stamped one by lining up it’s bottom and then lining up the ears.  I have found that helps a lot. Hope it might help you.

I do love this bear.  It is very cute and I love the detail of it’s fur.

SOMETHING FOR BABY!

I can finally show you this card.  A friend who is also one of my downlines had a baby boy back in January.  I have only got to see her recently so now I can show you the card.

baby blue

I found the idea for the window card on Pinterest but I changed it around and made it larger into a standard size card.  The window was cut with the Square Framelits. The Designer Series Paper was the ‘Perfectly Artistic’  Sale-A-Bration paper which is now no longer available.  Well it was when I made the card 😉

The cute little suit is from ‘Something For Baby’.  It is so nice to have the matching framelits too.  No cutting!!  The greeting is from ‘A Dozen Thoughts’, stamped and then punched with the Oval Punch.  I cut a red banner using the ‘Itty Bitty Framelits’.  I cut the banner in half and adhered this to the back of the oval to make it larger. The red gives it a “POP” I think.  I added the red Candy Dot to the bib.  I am still unsure, maybe it should have been a Tempting Turquoise one?? Sometimes you second guess yourself.

Here is the inside.

baby Insdie _ 2

I added a piece of Whisper White to the bottom inside.  I stamped the duck in the Tempting Turquoise too. The greeting is from Sale-A-Bration set ‘Sky is the Limit’ which is no longer available either. 😦  I stamped it and then cut the greeting with the ‘Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits’

I think it has the cute factor.  What do you reckon?? 🙂

Thanks for visiting today.

Have a great day.  The weather is turning chilly now.  I am sad that Summer is leaving us but it is a relief to have cooler nights to sleep better.

IRRESISTIBLY YOURS DSP INTO CARDS!!

I was playing around with the ‘Irresistibly Yours’ DSP the other day.  If you are not familiar with this paper already it comes in 12″x12″ sheets.  There are 6 different designs and you get  2 of each. Each design has a glossy like pattern on the sheet which is like it is clear embossed.  You can simply add your colour either by sponging or brayering.  Gently wipe off the card with a tissue which removes the ink from the embossed parts leaving a gorgeous coloured pattern.  You can create your own patterned paper to match the colour of your project. I had these little pieces just for a card size and thought I would make up some cards using them.  Here they are for you.

Firstly, using Crisp Canteloupe card and ink and stamp sets ‘Papillion Potpourri’ and ‘Hello There’. A little Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was punched using the 1 3/8″ Circle punch and this was layered under the “For You” greeting although that is a little hard to see. I also stamped the smaller image from ‘Daydream Medallions’ and cut it with the matching die. I added some Crisp Canteloupe Thick Baker’s Twine to finish this card.

P1160230

This one was in Marina Mist and using ‘Something For Baby’ and ‘Itty Bitty Banners’ stamp sets.  Finished off with some Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine.  Gotta love that tie!!! 😉

P1160233

This is probably my favourite.  This is Lost Lagoon.  I added some splodges from ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ and the greeting is from ‘Teeny Tiny Sentiments’. Then simply a sparkly butterfly cut from the Silver Foil Sheets and then some Lost Lagoon Satin ribbon to finish off.

P1160232

So have you got your ‘Irresistibly Yours’ DSP yet?? It is one of the Free choices during Sale-A-Bration with your $90 order.  There are so many other great Sale-A-Bration products if this Paper is not your choice. There is only 2 weeks left of Sale-A-Bration so you can’t muck around on this. Order directly Online Here or drop me an email with your order. I can ship anywhere in Australia.

SOMETHING FOR – A BABY BOY!

I have a few baby cards to make at the moment and the set ‘Something For Baby’ has just arrived in time. If you have baby cards to make this set is great.  I will tell you about the set below but I will show you the card first.

P1120969

I have used Marina Mist and Real Red on this. I cut the little baby suit using the ‘Baby First’ Framelits from the Marina Mist card and then embossed it with the ‘Alphabet Press’ Embossing Folder.  This folder is ideal for a cute baby type  card. I wrapped around some White Baker’s Twine.  On a piece of Whisper White card I pierced the baby suit from the ‘Eclectic’ Piercing Template set and adhered that behind the Marina Mist card.  I adhered it all to the Marina Mist Base card.  I stamped and cut the little tie in Real Red and adhered that with Dimensionals. (Don’t just think of this tie for baby cards what about for Dad for Father’s Day???).  The tie adds a cute little touch. The greeting is from ‘Itty Bitty Banners’ and cut with the matching Framelits.

In the catalogue (p74)  this is available as a bundle which is just fantastic as you save 15% off for the bundle ($80.50 W and $68.75 C).  The Piercing Template is on p 218 is a great asset for this set and has piercing templates for the Tag Topper Punches, Star Framelits, Word Bubble Framelits and the Chalk Talk set.  A very versatile Piercing Template set at only $13.95.

In cutting the Baby suit out for this card and a second one I didn’t want to waste the off-cuts so I made up some other cards similar to this.

P1120974

The heart is punched from the 2 step Owl Punch. The Marina Mist piece at the bottom has been embossed with the ‘Alphabet Press’ Embossing Folder again. The greeting is from ‘A Dozen Thoughts’ and punched out with the Word Window Punch.  I punched out a second one in Real Red and then cut it in half and layered it behind the white sentiment.

P1120975

This is a little card measuring 10cmx10cm (4″x4″).  The heart is punched from the ‘Itty Bitty Accents’ Punch Pack.

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the blog world.  If you are in the US, wishing your a Happy 4th July. 🙂

“SOMETHING FOR BABY” CARD IN A BOX!

I have just received the new “Something For Baby” set from the new Catalogue.  It is so cute. I do have a few baby cards to make but I just had to make one of the ‘Card in a Box’ type cards first.  I have to show you it.

Isn’t it the cutest?? (or can I say that about my own card!)  I think all the images in the set are so cute and they all work together so well, PLUS no hand cutting.  Just use the matching framelits!

P1120875

It was such fun to put together.  I have used the ‘Moonlight’ DSP paper stack which is also from the new catalogue.  These paper stacks are great.  The papers are just slightly larger than a card front so they are much easier to use and store.  There are 48 sheets in the stacks with 4 each of 12 double-sided designs.  You can check them out when you get your new catalogue.  I have used some of the new Incolors coming out – Hello Honey, and Lost Lagoon.  I also added  Basic Gray and Sahara Sand.

Here you can check out the side views.

P1120877

Little booties and No, I didn’t have to hand cut these either!  I added some White Baker’s Twine bows.

P1120878

A little Bib with another White Baker’s Twine bow and a Rhinestone to finish it off.

These “card in a box” cards do take some time to create but the whole process is fun.

I have been busy with a lot more creating getting ready for my Catalogue Launch this coming weekend.  I can show you all the creations after the weekend.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you are enjoying some creating today.
