BUTTERFLY BRILLIANCE FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS CHALLENGE!

I actually had time to play this weekend “Just Because”. It was nice to just dabble. I played along with the Colour Inkspirations Challenge #140. WOW! How awesome that it’s up to 140. I played along in the early days but just haven’t had time to lately.

The Colour Inkspirations Challenges can be seen -> HERE. You can see what others have created with these colours and even create one yourself and enter. Have a go.

Here is my card for the challenge for this week. It was nice subtle colours. I thought it would be good to drag out a stamp set I haven’t used for a while. And this Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set is retiring very soon. So nice to ink it up again.

The colours were Petal Pink, So Saffron, Soft Sea Foam and Early Espresso (this one was a dark shade against those nice pastels).

Here is my card.

I blended the white card using the Blending Brushes with the Petal Pink, So Saffron and Soft Sea Foam. Then stamped the butterflies in Early Espresso. The sentiment from Happiness Abounds is stamped in Early Espresso too. The lovely Soft Sea Foam ribbon adds a little elegance.

I hope you like the card. Hope you get to play “just because” this week.

Have a great week,

Jenny

WEDNESDAY’S WOW #139 – 3 WAYS TO COLOUR THE FOILS PAPER!

Wednesday’s WOW! #139 – Add colour to the Silver and Gold Foils.

You might have seen the Silver and Gold Foils Designer Series Paper available for Sale-A-Bration? Of course you can leave it as it is but why not have some fun with it and colour it. There are a number of different ways you can do that.

The Silver and Gold Foils Designer Series Paper have embossed designs on them. There are dots and stripes in Silver and in Gold. The dots or stripes will resist the ink when you add colour so you have nice shiny additions to the colour. Once you add the colour just wipe off lightly with a tissue to remove any excess ink on the foil parts.

Let me show you 3 Ways to add colour to this paper.

1. Use the Blending Brushes to add colour. Use one colour or a number of colours and brush over a piece of the paper. (bottom left)

2. Use markers to add additional coloured stripes on the striped print. Using 2 colours will add an extra pizzazz to your cards. (right).

Of course you can leave it plain as a lovely background and add extra stamped images or elements on the card. (top left)

3. Stamp directly on to the Foils with regular Classic Ink Pads. You will have the “embossed” lines or dots run through it but it adds a cool effect. (below)

A few years back there was some other range of Foils Paper. I shared a few projects using them way back then. Check out the posts -> HERE and -> HERE. Or you can do a search for Springtime Foils Paper on my blog.

Below is the Silver and Gold Foils Designer Series Paper. It is a pack of 24 sheets in 6″x6″ size. 12 each in 2 patterns (stripes and dots) and in 2 colours (silver and Gold).

And bonus, it is a free choice for Sale-A-Bration with your orders over $90 AUD. (Only while supplies last).

Here is the Friendly Hello card.

To colour the flowers on this one I used the Blending Brushes and circled inked in the centre lightening the colour moving out to the edges.

MASKED BACKGROUND WITH THE NEW STAMPIN’ UP! BLENDING BRUSHES

Have you seen the new Stampin’ Up! Blending Brushes?? I have had mine for a couple of weeks but have just pulled them out this week. I have been having so much fun with them. How soft and delicate are the bristles!! They are lovely.

On yesterday’s Facebook Live I used the brushes on the card and shared some tips in using them.

The edited video is now on Youtube. I will add it below too. If you are receiving this blog post via email it might not show up so head to my blog or you can go to Youtube directly.

I will be sharing some more cards with the Blending Brushes very soon so watch out for them.

A couple of tips with using them though. You will want to treat them differently than the sponges or the Daubers.

  • When picking up the ink from the inkpad you will want to “rub gently” not dab like you might with the sponges.
  • Dab off a little on scrap paper first. I do this with the sponges anyway.
  • When applying ink to your card move in a circular motion with light pressure.
  • Hold the brush down towards the brush head.
  • If you are sponging the whole card start off the edge of the card and work lightly in.

I hope these tips help. I will put together a video soon sharing some cool ways of using the brushes.

Here is the card from the video. I have used the Dragonfly Garden on the card.

On the Dragonfly I stamped the “solid” wing stamp on the wing outline in Blushing Bride and then coloured just the tip of the wings with the Soft Seafoam Stampin’ Write Marker or you can use the Stampin’ Blends.

The Blending Brushes are available in my store now -> HERE. for $21 AUD

Thanks for visiting today,
