STAMPING AROUND THE WORLD DECEMBER BLOG HOP!

We have another Blog Hop for you today with the Stamping Around The World Tutorial group.  As I used the Itty Bitty Christmas in my project for the Tutorial this month I am sharing another project for the Blog Hop.

You might have come from Alicia’s Blog HERE or starting from my corner of the world.  Enjoy this little hop around the world.  Here is my project for this month.

I wanted to create a different card using the Christmas Layers dies and not just diecutting them and adding them to the card.  So I diecut one of the dies from scrap paper and used that as a mask on the white card and then sponged through with the Seaside Spray ink and the sponge dauber.  It creates a fun effect.

I had to use those Playful Penguins of course.  I am sad they will be retiring.  If you haven’t got these cute guys you better get on it.  They are only available while supplies last.  And really they aren’t just for Christmas. 🙂

The penguin is stamped in Basic Gray and the scarf in Seaside Spray ink.  They were both hand cut with scissors.  I like to leave a little white edge around the shape as it is a little softer visually.

The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas set.  How sparkly is the Seaside Spray ribbon?? It is a little hard to tell in the photo.   A smaller snowflake star was cut from the Sparkle Glimmer Paper.

Just a note too:

The Itty Bitty Christmas stamps and the Christmas Layers dies will be carrying over but not as a Bundle so buying them now will save you 10%.  Check them out in my store along with the cute Playful Penguins stamp set -> HERE.

Now continue on the Blog Hop.  Just click on the little blue frog below.

Happy Hopping,

Jenny

All orders will receive the Tutorial Bundle of 12 projects from me as a little Thank You.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #90 – SHINY DIECUTS!

Wednesday’s WOW! #90 – creating shiny diecuts.  This is something really cool I just realised. Maybe you already know.  This is how you can make your diecuts shiny – and not using the shiny Foil or sparkling Glimmer Paper.  It’s very easy.

Firstly, diecut your shape.  Here I used the leaf shape from the Christmas Layers Dies.  Rub over the diecut with Versamark, Sprinkle over the Clear Embossing Powder and heat the powder with your Heat Tool.  See the shine develop.  It’s always magical isn’t it when you see that powder melt away.  If you want to take it a step further you could add some glitter in with it to really make it sparkle.  How cool!

I have given you an image below that you can PIN to Pinterest so you can then come back to anytime to remember this fun little technique.

Below is the finished card.

I had a small piece of the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Before I adhered this to the white card mat I stamped over some “spots” from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and then embossed the white card with the Subtles Embossing Powder.  It is a little hard to see.

Add a small strip of the Copper Foil behind your Brightly Gleaming paper strip too before adding it to the card. Adhere the leaf spray on to the white card and then add this to the Pretty Peacock card base.  The sentiment is from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set stamped on to white card and that was cut out.  All finished with a Copper Star Embellishment and some of the Classic Weave Ribbon added with a glue dot.

Here is a close-up of the shine on the leaf spray.  I have to say this card was so hard to take a photograph of with the shine from the Copper in the paper and the shine on the leaf spray.  I hope you get enough of an idea anyway.

Try this idea out for yourself.

Happy Stamping,

Jenny

PLAYFUL PENGUINS TRIO!

I have been sharing some cards with the Playful Penguins stamp set and I had shared these cards very briefly but thought I would share them individually with you today.

It’s a Penguin Parade for this card above.  To highlight one of the penguins I stamped the scarf in Shaded Spruce and raised that up off the card.  I love that the sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas fits nicely between the penguins.

One sole penguin but doesn’t it make it elegant with the flourish die from the Ornate Frames Dies.

This penguin is feeling hopeful under the mistletoe.  This was cut using one of the dies in the Christmas Layers Dies.  These are very versatile dies that you could use for any occasion.

Which card do you like the best?  I can’t choose.  I just think this set is the cutest.

Thanks for visiting me and seeing these cute penguins today,

Jenny

EMBOSSED BACKGROUND WITH PLAYFUL PENGUINS!

I shared some cards with the Playful Penguins a little while ago.  This time I have a cute card for you but what I particularly want to show you is the background.

I have used the Christmas Layers Dies in the Holiday Catalogue to create this effect.

I have embossed the dies on the card rather than cutting them.

I have shared a few times how to emboss with your Dies -> HERE and -> HERE.  It’s very easy and gives you a little more versatility with them.  What a cool effect it creates!

To emboss with them you will need to change they way you layer them in your Diecut machine.  Here’s a table to help you.

Please note: the table below uses the term Big Shot.  Stampin’ Up! no longer uses the term Big Shot.  I will update this table very soon.

To finish the card the sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set and cut with one of the Ornate Frames Dies.  I added a strip of the Gold Foil under the sentiment piece that I had flagged the ends. The paper is from the Wrapped In Plaid Designer Series Paper.

For balance and for a little extra I added some of the Shaded Spruce Ribbon and cut a Gold snowflake to finish.

I do love these penguins.  How about you?? What about trying this effect on your next card.

Happy Stamping,

Jenny

HOT CHOCOLATE BAR CATALOGUE REVIEW!

A few weeks ago now I had the catalogue launch for the 2019 Holiday Catalogue.  I decided on a Hot Chocolate Bar for it.  Since Christmas is so hot here it’s not the time for Hot Chocolate.  Actually it had been quite hot the days leading up to the weekend so it was a bit ironic.  On the day though the weather cooled down.  It was a lot of fun and always so nice for everyone to see what is out for their Christmas creating.

I thought I would share a little bit of it with you.

Firstly, since it was a Hot Chocolate Bar I made up the little gifts in take-away coffee cups.  I know they are not environmentally friendly but I had these sitting around so why not use them.

They were decorated with the snowflake from the Christmas Layers Dies from the Dazzling Glimmer Paper.  It is a bit hard to see the sparkle.  How gorgeous is that Cherry Cobbler Diagonal stripe Ribbon.

The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas set but check the frame.  You might actually miss these in the catalogue.  They are created with the Ornate Frames Dies from Shaded Spruce card and then a Cherry Cobber Scallop square from the Layering Squares Dies.

See it here closer.

In the cups I had some ribbon and little embellishments and of course the obligatory chocolate treat. 🙂

We made 2 cards on the day.  I will show you one today and then another tomorrow.

We used the Brightly Gleaming Suite for the cards.

The card above is quite simple really but it looks quite classy with the gorgeous shiny copper accents on the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper and the sparkly Star Designer Elements. The Copper Foil was embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder.  Doesn’t that look a cool effect.

When I made the card originally I made a small gift tag up with some “bits” left over.  It’s good to have a matching tag.

The Classic Weave Ribbon is gorgeous with the embossed copper words on it.

I will show you the other card next time.

Until then, why not stop on by my store and check out all the Brightly Gleaming items in the suite. HEAD -> HERE.
