TEAM SHOEBOX SWAP – DAY 4!

OK, Today is my last sharing from our recent Team stamp day with Shoebox Swap cards.  I have a few various ones for you.

This one below is using that gorgeous Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut paper.  I have shown lots of cards using this paper recently.  For this card you don’t need much more than backing a section of the paper on to a strip of black card and adhering it to your white base card.  It makes it look so elegant don’t you think??  I think from memory the sentiment banner is a strip of white card and using the small circle punch to notch out each corner.

This next one is a fun fold.  Adhere a strip of the lovely paper, this one is the Nature’s Poem DSP, down the left hand side of the front of your card.  Punch a slit using the Classic Label Punch on the side of the card front.  You need to punch it twice to be sure that the dragonfly fits through. Punch it once near the top, then slide it down a little bit and line it up with the previous punch and punch it again.  A dragonfly from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits was cut from Vellum and also from Cajun Craze.

This is the inside of the card.  The sentiments are from Better Together set.  It’s a cool card.

This card uses the lovely Love What You Do set, the Share What You Love paper and the Lovely Floral Embossing Folder.

This is a cute little treat bag below.  It is very quick to make up.  This is based on Pootles bag -> HERE.

I hope you have so enjoyed these little projects from our team day.  We are getting ready for another get together in the next few weeks.  Hopefully I don’t take as long to share those with you. 😉

Hope your weekend is going awesomely.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #29 – EMBOSSING MATS!

Today for Wednesday’s WOW! I have an exciting new product to show you.  I don’t know if you have noticed these in the catalogue.  I know I missed them the first time (or even the fifth time!) I went through the Catalogue.  This is the Big Shot Embossing Mats.  You can see them on p221.  Have you noticed them?

They consist of 2 different Silicone mats and an impressions mat.  These mats will enable you to emboss with your cutting dies to create a totally different effect on your cards.  I will let the video below show you how to work them. If you receive this post via email and don’t see the video, head to my blog directly by clicking on the post title above and see the video there.

What a great effect it can give. What do you think?  Think of all your current dies that would work well with this???

I had a go with some of my dies.  I still have the older style Embossing Mat from a few years ago.  I used some acetate instead of the silicone mat. See how they turned out.

I used the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits and the Detailed Floral Thinlits.

Here are the layers for the Big Shot again to emboss with your dies –

Big Shot Platform

Cutting Plate

Die (facing up)

COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS #34 AND FRESHLY MADE SKETCHES #340

It’s a rainy cold day here today and what better way to spend it than stamping.  I thought I would indulge in a little challenge time.  For this card I combined 2 challenges; Colour Inkspirations #34 which I haven’t played along with for weeks, and Freshly Made Sketches #340 which I often follow their sketches but never actually enter it at the time.  So here is a double whammy. 🙂

So here is my card I created.  The colours turned out a little softer than in the inspiration image.

On Shimmery White card I watercoloured 3 of the colours Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Pool Party.  The Basic Gray was the strips down the sides of the panel.  As I have been using some of the gorgeous Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Designer Series Paper and had it out I thought I would add that to the panel.  It is so delicate.  The sentiment is from Petal Palette.  I added a little copper dragonfly from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. Also added some Copper Thread under the sentiment.

You can check out the other entries and why not play along too.

FRIDAY FAVOURITES – GOOD-BYE TO THE 2016-2018 INCOLORS!

Each year we say Good-Bye to the 5 Incolors that have been with us for the past 2 years.  Some of these colours become favourites.  It’s hard to let go of them.  This year we are saying Farewell to colours like Sweet Sugarplum and Dapper Denim!!  So for our final Friday Favourites for this current catalogue let’s look at these colours.

These little mini cards I made back in June 2016 to show the colours but I don’t know if I shared them on my blog as I can’t find the post now.  Here you are though.  They were using my favourite set at the time Swirly Birds.  (Note to self: I really must use that set again soon).

While these colours are nice I have really loved the Dapper Denim and Sweet Sugarplum colours.  I have used them a bit.

Dapper Denim is a great colour for “boys” cards.  I couldn’t find the original post for this z-fold card below but it worked well for a special 40th card.

Another “boys” card using the Happy Birthday Thinlits with the Color Theory paper stack.

I cut 2 of the Thinlits for this one in black and one in white and when adhering them together I offset them slightly.  The white makes the Black ‘POP’.

Dapper Denim even for a wedding card.  So elegant!  This one uses the Floral Themes set.

Sweet Sugarplum – what a lovely shade of colour.  Using a short lived bundle back a couple of years ago, Thoughtful Branches.

One with the Sale-A-Bration 2017 set Avant Garden.

Sweet Sugarplum worked well with Peekaboo Peach.

Another Swirly Bird card.  I heat embossed the swirls with White Embossing Powder before sponging over the colours.

We won’t miss Flirty Flamingo as that is now coming back as a core colour.  That’s pretty exciting!

Have you got these colours?  What is your favourite?  Now have you stocked up on your cardstock, ink refills, inks etc.  If you haven’t you better get on to it.  Some of these items have sold out already but you might be lucky.  Please don’t go looking for them after the 31st as you might not get them.

You can order them in my online store -> HERE.  Please use the Host Code: XQZEJREH  Thank you.  I do appreciate your order and be sure not to mark it anonymous or I can’t send you a little card and gift to say Thanks. 🙂

This is the last of Friday Favourites for this outgoing catalogue.  Don’t worry I think I will be back with Friday Favourites for the new 2018 Catalogue.  Not long now to wait!!!  I’m getting excited that you will be able to see it soon.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Jenny

A DIFFERENT COLOUR WITH THE SPRINGTIME FOILS SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER!

A couple of posts back I showed you a card with the Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper.  If you missed it then just head back -> HERE.

After a little discussion with a lovely friend, a different colour was suggested – Pool Party.  I thought that sounded a great idea.  How would this gorgeous paper turn out in other colours? I had a little time on Saturday and quickly whipped up this card.  I think the longest part was colouring the sentiment from the Label Me Pretty set.  I haven’t used this set very much so it was good to play with it and I dusted off the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.

So what do you think of this version?

For this one to be quick I patted the Pool Party ink pad over the paper then I used a sponge to rub over it to smooth out the ink.  I was impatient. 🙂

I kept the card simple layering it on to a black card mat and then a Pool Party card base.  I added the line of dragonflies from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.

The sentiment from Label Me Pretty was coloured with the Stampin’ Blends.  I added a few loops of the Copper Thread under the sentiment and added some tiny Pearls in the flower centres.

Still shiny and sparkly!  Thanks Lynda for the tip to try another colour. 🙂

See you next time,

Jenny

IT’S A BRUSHO CRYSTALS LONG WEEKEND – DAY 1!

We start today! I am excited to bring these projects to you for our Brusho Long Weekend.  I have been playing with these Brushos (as I commonly call them) for the past few weeks.   Each day over the next 3 days I will bring you a fun new project with a video and tips.  I hope you enjoy them.  Plus don’t miss out on the Special bonus savings this weekend if you are an Australian resident.

Warning: These Brushos are fun, addictive and at times messy.  🙂

DAY 1

My first project is creating a simple background similar to this one I have shown on this Dragonfly card.

Here is a video to create a washed out effect but I have also written a description below with a few tips.

NB. The above card was made a few weeks ago as I was still experimenting.  For the card above I used watercolour card and sprinkled over the powder with the card dry and then wet it. It does give a slightly different effect.  On watercolour card the colour doesn’t run as well. You can create a background like this or how I have in the video.

In the video: I chose to use Gloss card and wet the card with the Aquapainter before I added the Brusho Crystals as the water enables the Crystals to spread easier.

Sprinkle over some Brusho Crystals lightly on your card after you have wet the card.  I have used the Prussian Blue.  You only need a small amount and for this technique I would keep it to one colour.

Spritz the card with water. Tilting the card will help make the colour run. Spritz lightly with more water if you think it needs more or you can sprinkle over more colour if need be.   When you are happy with the effect, leave the card aside to dry.  Once dry you can assemble the card.

On the card above I stamped the Dapper Denim base with the dots from the Dragonfly Dreams set.  A dragonfly was cut from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits in Gold Foil. I stamped a few of the dots from Timeless Textures in Versamark on my coloured card piece and heat embossed them in gold.  The paper is from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Just a note on the sentiment: I masked part of the sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams set and inked it with versamark.  After I stamped it on the Dapper Denim card I heat embossed it in gold.  It was cut with the smallest framelits in the Lots of Labels Framelits.  I added a few loops of the Gold Thread behind the sentiment.

I hope you like this project. Each time you do it the effect will be different.

Come back tomorrow for a second project.

Grab 15% off your Brusho Crystals this weekend. (ends Sunday 11th 8pm). Details below.  Includes an information sheet on ways to use your Brusho Crystal Colours.

TOP 5 PICK FOR COLOUR INKSPIRATIONS #06!

I am a little excited!  I have just been chosen as a TOP 5 Pick for this past week’s Colour INKspirations Challenge #06.  This was for my Dragonfly Dreaming card I showed recently. It’s nice to know they liked my card.  I can now proudly display the badge on my blog. 🙂

This was my card if you didn’t see it.

I am really enjoying taking part in these challenges.  It has helped me think about my stamping a bit more and to give things a go.  Life is crazy, busy but it has been good to take some time out and stamp something for myself.

If you want to join in too then head over to the Facebook Group Page HERE and check it out.

Wishing you a happy day/night.

FALLING PETALS SPOTLIGHTING!

This weekend I have had a play at this week’s Colour Inkspirations Challenge #05.  The colours we had were Blushing Bride, Soft Sky and Sahara Sand.

They are such pretty soft colours and lend themselves to cute baby cards or soft floral or even butterflies??

Recently I shared a card with you of a different way to use the Falling Petal Embossing Folder.  You can see that post HERE if you missed it.  I have wanted to play with this idea since then and thought I would try it out with this challenge.  This is the card I ended up with.

The lighting is not very good today.  It is wet and overcast so not the best.  Actually it has been torrential rain for the past week!

To the card:  The base card is Blushing Bride and the mat is Sahara Sand.  I embossed a Whisper White card mat with the Falling Petals Embossing Folder.  Tied around some White Baker’s Twine before adhering it to the Sahara Sand card mat and card base. I cut a piece of Thick Whisper White with one of the larger Layering Circles Framelits Dies and embossed it with the Falling Petals Embossing Folder.

On this circle piece I created some little flowers with the embossed hearts/petals.  I used the Sahara Sand Marker to first draw some lines from each petal to create the flower stems.  Then coloured each flower with the Blushing Bride inkpad and Blender Pen. Then with the Aquapainter I added a light wash with the Soft Sky inkpad around the flowers. Just a note: After giving it a light wash with the Soft Sky it did wash out the Sahara Sand stems so I went over that lightly again.  I went over the petals with the clear Wink of Stella pen too to add some sparkle but it is hard to tell in the photo.

This coloured piece was then adhered on to a Blushing Bride circle a bit larger. I then adhered it to the white card mat lining it up roughly in the same place.  This created a type of spotlighting of the petals at the top of the card.

The sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms and cut with the Project Life Framelits.  I added some small adhesive pearls to the sentiment piece.  A small dragonfly was cut from the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper to add some extra sparkle.

What do you think of this card?? I felt it was missing something?? Not sure.

Anyway, I think these challenges are good.  It makes you think a lot about your creating. It’s nice to steal away a little “me” time stamping too.

I hope you have a lot of creating opportunities this coming week.

DRAGONFLY DREAMS FOR A SKETCH AND COLOUR CHALLENGE!

Two posts in one day! How about that.  I hadn’t intended to post again today but this afternoon I had a little play time and made a card for 2 challenges and need to post them before it is too late.  So here you go.

This card is for a Facebook colour challenge group I have just joined.  This is the Colour INKspirations.  The colour challenge this week is Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron and Daffodil Delight.  For this card I also played along with the Freshly Made Sketches #269 Challenge. Check the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches -> HERE. I have to say once you have colours to use and the sketch it doesn’t take that long to put a card together.

This was the final result.

dragonfly-dreams-colour-challenge

The card is fairly straight forward.  To incorporate the Daffodil Delight I stamped the “spots” down the left hand side.  I find Daffodil Delight a hard colour to work with but managed to use this here.  I have used the set Dragonfly Dreams and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.

To create the Dragonfly:  The dragonfly was made in 2 steps so I thought I would tell you about it.  Firstly, stamp the dragonfly wings stamp onto Mint Macaron card with Mint Macaron ink then cut it out with the Dragonfly outline Thinlits.  Then cut a detailed dragonfly out from Bermuda Bay card.  Adhere these both together by sticking just the body part together so you can raise the wings up.

To add a little sparkle I went over the Mint Macaron wings with the Wink of Stella pen and I added some Bermuda Bay sequins to finish the card off.

Here is a close up of the Dragonfly wings so you can see the sparkle.
