NATURE’S BEAUTY FOR WORLD CARDMAKING DAY 2019!

This weekend is World Cardmaking Day. A great day to celebrate what we love – to create cards and sharing them.

This weekend I am having a special class to celebrate World Cardmaking Day.  It is focusing specifically on the Nature’s Beauty stamp set. We are getting together not just to make cards but to raise money for Mental Health.  I will show you one of the cards we will be making but also tell you how you can help me raise money for Mental Health too, even it you can’t make the class.

For this card I stamped the fox in Memento Black and coloured them with the Stampin’ Blends; Calypso Coral and Mint Macaron.  The white card was cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies and trimmed off a little at the top to straighten it off.  The strip of paper is from the Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper.  On top of that you wrap around some Linen Thread.

The trees were stamped several times in Mint Macaron on the card mat with some stamped snow drops along the top of the card.

I am so looking forward to this fun class this weekend.  BUT if you can’t make it you can support Mental Health too.  Let me tell you how.

  • Order the Nature’s Beauty stamp set, Stampin’ Up! will donate $4.25 to local Mental Health Organisations.
  • Place any order between October 3rd and October 6th and I will donate 20% commission to Headspace.

This is for Australian residents only sorry.

Here is the Nature’s Beauty Stamp set if you haven’t noticed it. It is tucked away on the very last page of the Holiday Catalogue. It is $37 AUD.

HOW TO ORDER:

TEA TOGETHER HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

I shared this card on my Facebook page the other day along with some other co-ordinating projects.  These were the projects we made at our Mother’s Day class this weekend.  I thought that I would show you a closer photo of the card.  You can’t beat Gingham.  It’s quite popular at the moment.  This was a popular card too.

This card is using the Tea Together stamp set with the Tea Time Dies.

For this card we used the sweet sentiment from the stamp set but there was the option for the Mother’s Day sentiment too.

A frame was cut on the Gingham Gala paper with the Rectangle Stitched Dies. The Balmy Blue stamped card was also cut with one of the other smaller Rectangle Stitched Dies.  The teapot and cup and saucer were stamped in Memento Black ink and coloured with the Stampin’ Blends.  We just did the edge with the light Smoky Slate.  You can’t tell but the flowers had Wink of Stella washed over them so they were quite sparkly.

For the class each person could choose the colours they wanted to from the Gingham Gala paper.  The Highland Heather looked gorgeous as was the Grapefruit Grove.  I should have taken photos of them.

Hope you like them.  Happy Mother’s Day to you wherever you are whether you are a Mum to humans or to animal babies.  Have a lovely day.  Hugs to you if you are missing your Mum or struggle with not being a “mum”.  It can be a hard day.  xx

Thanks for visiting.  See you again soon.

STAMPING AROUND THE WORLD MARCH BLOG HOP – RAINBOW FLOWERS!

2 posts in one day! This post I am joining in with a Blog Hop for the Stamping Around the World Tutorial team.  Each month we join in a hop with a project using the same stamp set we used in our Monthly Tutorials.  It’s a great way of seeing a different way of using them.  You might be starting here or have just come from Sandra’s amazing creations.

For my project today I am using the Painted Seasons Stamp set.  It’s been a very popular set in recently and to think that it is a free set with your order!

I wanted a fun, bright card.  I have made a rainbow of flowers on my card.

I stamped the flower in the set over a piece of white card to create a rainbow effect.  The inks used were Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Gorgeous Grape.  The sentiment is from Love What You Do set.  And did you notice the label shape? I used the new Story Label Punch.  I stamped a piece in Granny Apple Green too and then cut the piece in half and layered it behind the stamped white piece.

While making this card I stamped a few pieces of Whisper White to work on the arrangement.  I didn’t want to waste them so I made another 2 cards with the pieces.

The sentiment on the above cards are from the Butterfly Gala Stamp set and diecut with a small rectangle from the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  I cut another one in Silver Foil and cut it in half and layered it behind the stamped rectangle.

I hope you like the cards.  They are simple but I think bright and colourful and very quick to make.

BOTANICAL BUTTERFLY PAPER WITH BLENDS!

It’s a Botanical Butterflies Week this week.

I will share a number of projects with you using the gorgeous Botanical Butterflies Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration.  There is only 2 weeks left for this gorgeous paper so let’s get it out and use it.  It follows my theme from posts some time ago to #usethatpaper

I used a piece of the small black and white butterfly print and coloured the butterflies with the Stampin’ Blends.  It is such an easy way to add colour. I used the Balmy Blue and the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I think looking at it now I should have added some bright green like the Granny Apple Green on parts of the “wisps”.  I also coloured one butterfly from the paper and cut it out to add on the sentiment.

The sentiment is from Butterfly Gala and cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  I cut a 2nd rectangle in Daffodil Delight card and adhered it underneath the sentiment.  Perhaps I should have done some silver under there instead.  I did this card weeks ago and I can see so many things I would do differently.  But anyway, perhaps it will inspire you in some way and know that you can colour the paper with the Stampin’ Blends.

Have a closer look at this paper.  Keep in mind that there is only 2 weeks left to grab this as your free choice.  It could be sooner if it runs out so don’t delay on this.

Also, note:  There is a small supply of this Organdy Ribbon back in stock too as your Sale-A-Bration choice but that won’t stay around long either.

Watch out this week as I bring some more projects using this pretty paper.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #59 – REDUCING THE SIZE OF DIECUTS!

Today for Wednesday’s WOW! #59 I want to share a little trick I discovered yesterday. Well it is not necessary a new discovery but new to me and it might be new to you.  Today I want to share with you how to reduce the size of your Framelits especially your shapes like the Rectangles Stitched Framelits.

Do you sometimes have an image or a sentiment that is just slightly different size to what your current Framelits sizes can cut? It happens occasionally and it can be annoying.  Yesterday when I was making the card I will share below I wanted a smaller square to fit the sentiment.  So … I cut it down. Let me show you.

HOW TO REDUCE THE SIZE OF YOUR DIECUT SHAPES

Cut your piece of card with one of the Framelits Dies that is close to what you need. Then position your Framelits die over the cut piece of card to make it the size you want.  You will find the card will slip in to the die snugly.  Just check it out underneath to be sure.  (See below for the position of the die).

Diecut the card out and you have the smaller diecut you need.

Note: I hadn’t stamped this piece of card as this was just as a sample to show you.  It is a good idea to stamp before you cut so you know the exact size needed.

Below is the card I used the smaller diecut on.  I found that any other size and even a square in the Stitched Shapes Framelits was still not the right size.  That’s ok.  I could make a custom sized one.

For this card I stamped the image from By The Bay Sale-A-Bration set on to Grapefruit Grove Foil sheet.  Be sure to use Stazon when stamping to avoid smudging of the image. This stamp set By The Bay is a free choice for Sale-A-Bration.  The Foil Sheets were too but sadly have run out.

For the sentiment I daubered White Shimmer Paint on to the stamp and stamped it on black card.  Call me lazy.  I couldn’t be bothered getting my Heat Tool out and emboss it. 🙂

Don’t you like the colour with this card when the light hits the foil?  It’s like a rainbow.  Just a tip I found when making this card.  Don’t use Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive on the back of the Foil.  You can see the marks from it. At least you can’t see it in this photo. 🙂

Thanks for visiting.

Have you put your order in yet and received your choice of Sale-A-Bration set?? There are only a few weeks left so you better get on it.

FROGGY WINDOW!

It’s all about the frogs this week.  The Frogs in the Sale-A-Bration So Hoppy Together set.  They are cute little characters.

I had this idea in my head using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits to create a window for the cute little froggy on his unicycle.

A window was diecut in the Grapefruit Grove card base using one of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and some of the little flies were stamped around the edge.  The sentiment is from the Amazing Life stamp set and punched with the Classic Label Punch.

On a piece of Shimmery White card I stamped the unicycle froggy.  JUST A TIP: Place the Shimmery White card inside the Grapefruit Grove card so you can see through the window to position where to stamp. The frog was stamped and then coloured with Watercolour Pencils and the Aquapainter. On a scrap piece of Shimmery White I stamped and coloured the little butterfly and then fussy cut it.  No Framelits for this – YET!! 😉  I added some sparkle with the Wink of Stella.  It is hard to see it though.

Watch out for more frogs this week.

Have a great week.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #54 – EXTENDING THE LARGE RECTANGLE STITCHED FRAMELIT!

If you are using the Standard Metric card bases you might be facing a problem. Today for Wednesday’s WOW! #54 I want to solve that problem for you.  I have to say this is not my original idea. I think I saw it on a Facebook group I am on but not sure where or who by now.  Perhaps you haven’t seen it though so I thought I would share it with you.

The metric size card bases are just slightly different to the US size so the largest Rectangle Stitched Framelits doesn’t sit quite right for some people. It’s not evenly spaced around each side when you cut the card mat.  To some that doesn’t matter but you might like the even space.  Here is a solution for you.

EXTENDING THE RECTANGLE STITCHED FRAMELITS

Cut your card with the Largest Rectangle Stitched Framelit.  On your card piece, cut off a section at the bottom.  This could be any amount you like to work with your card design.  I cut this one at about 3 1/2 cm.

Once you have stamped your piece of card how you like, adhere that to the card base. Add a strip of card (or even wide ribbon) across the join of the card.  The card strip could be where you stamp your sentiment. Nobody would even know there is a gap there. 🙂

Here is a Pinterest graphic that you can PIN for your later use.

Thanks for stopping today.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #53 – RECTANGLE STITCHED FRAMELITS SIZES!

Wednesday’s WOW! #53 – Let’s talk about those cool Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  Have you seen them in the Catalogue? I LOVE them.

I have seen a few posts around with the Imperial measurements so I thought I would work out the Metric sizes for those of you who use metric measurements.  This might help you when you are choosing which Framelits to use and how they might layer together.

Here you go.  I hope it is a ready reference for you.

I have to say it’s a cool pattern with the measurements isn’t it?

I will talk more about ways to use them in later posts but for now I hope this is useful.

You NEED these Framelits in your collection.  I tell you they won’t leave your craft desk.  There are so many uses for them.

For now, grab them in my store -> HERE.  They are $61 Aus  Please use the Host Code: Q6XB6QR6

ON MY MIND FROGGY!

There are some great free sets for your Sale-A-Bration choices this year but none more cooler than the So Hoppy Together set.  I have played around with this set recently.  This is just one of the cards to share with you.

Isn’t he a cute fellow?  I stamped him first over the Coastal Cabana base card in Coastal Cabana Ink.  I stamped him also in Stazon on white card and coloured him in with the Watercolor Pencils.  Then lightly washed over him with the Aquapainter.   The white card was then cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  A strip of Granny Apple card was embossed with the Sparkle Embossing Folder.

I like making Thinking of You or Hello type cards to send out to people.  I love this sentiment from the new Butterfly Gala set.  I think I will be using this sentiment a bit.  I stamped it on to a strip of white card and cut it with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and cut a strip of Granny Apple Green card too and offset it under the sentiment piece.  Of course, bling to finish with an adhesive Rhinestone.

I have more froggy cards to come.  You can see the So Hoppy Together set and all the other free Sale-A-Bration choices in my store -> HERE.  Remember to grab your free choice with your $90 or $180 AUS order. Thank you for your order too.

3D projects, Christmas

12 WEEKS OF CHRISTMAS – WEEK 12 – CHRISTMAS CRATE!

Here we are.  Week 12 of our 12 Weeks of Christmas Series.  When I started this series I thought it was so far off to the end.  It has come around so quickly.  I hope you have enjoyed the projects I have shared over the last 12 weeks.  Today is a fun Christmas treat box.

It’s a Christmas crate.  Fill it with treats to give as a gift but wouldn’t it look great as a place marker on a table for Christmas.

The So Santa set works so well for our hot summer Christmas events.  No snow here in Australia. Sun, sand and seashells right? 🙂

To make the crate I used the Wood Crate Framelits.  Simply cut 2 from Real Red cardstock and assemble as normal.  Before I assembled the box I stamped over it with the Holly Strand in several places.

I measured the width of the crate to know what size width for the red cardstock.  Look what else I have used?? The Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  Brand new coming in the Occasions Catalogue on January 3rd. I am so excited for these.

The So Santa image was stamped on Thick Whisper White and coloured with the Stampin’ Blends.  And look also, a new Stampin’ Blends colour – Balmy Blue. I like to outline the images when I colour them in light Smoky Slate blend.  It helps to add depth to your images and make them POP!

I added a little dazzle with Silver Glimmer Paper punched with the Duet Banner Punch.  I cut the banner in half and adhered it under the sentiment to extend the length.  The sentiment was cut with one of the smaller Rectangle Stitched Framelits.

I hope you have enjoyed this series.  It’s been fun.  If you missed some of the projects over the last few months then click on the tag for 12 Weeks of Christmas and it will show  you all of them.  It might be a bit late for this Christmas but you could file it away (or  PIN them) for later.

Thanks for following me along,

Jenny
