FRIDAY FAVOURITES – FLOWERS!

Today I am reflecting on a few of my favourite Flower stamp setsthat are retiring VERY soon.  So many beautiful sets.

BLOOMS AND WISHES

I am late to the party with this stamp set.  It sat on my shelf uninked for nearly a year.  And now it is going.  I am sad. 😦

You can find the details for this post to make the 50th Eclipse card -> HERE.

ROSE WONDER

I am sad to see this set go.  I love the bold flower. So many ways to use this set.  I love the verses too. This set is one I might have to keep in my stash.  The sentiments for Weddings and Sympathy are very special.  There is not a set like it I think.  If you haven’t got this set already then be sure to grab it.  The dies to match are beautiful too.  Really.   You have to get on to it.

These are just some of the cards I have made.

Sponged Background

This background is sponged and then lightly spritzed with water to create a mottled effect.  For the full details on how to make it then head to this post -> HERE.

ONE DIE TWO WAYS – With just one diecut I created these 2 cards.  One (right) the diecut was placed over the white card as a mask and sponged over.  For the other card (left) I used the sponged diecut from the first card to adhere straight to a new card.  Find all the details on these cards -> HERE.

BIRTHDAY BLOSSOMS

Another beautiful set.  I heat embossed the larger flowers in white Embossing powder on vellum.  The smaller flowers were heat embossed in white on the Cherry Cobbler card.  Full details for this card can be found -> HERE.

You can find another card using this set -> HERE (the same post as the Rose Wonder spritzed card above).

Also, a Tri-Fold card with this set.  Full details -> HERE

A SPECIAL SYMPATHY CARD!

I needed to make a Sympathy card last week for a special friend. They are always hard cards to make aren’t they?

For this card I decided to use the Rose Wonder set. It’s always a great set to turn to for special occasions. I did a little search on Pinterest and decided to CASE this card from Brian King. It was simple, elegant and understated.

I didn’t have the type of paper Brian used so chose this paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP pack.  Not the usual colour for a sympathy but I thought it was OK. A simple flower cut with the Rose Garden Thinlits in white layered on Calypso Coral and a mat of White.

The sentiment is from Rose Wonder set.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Have a great day and remember to hug the ones you love.

A 15 MINUTE WEDDING CARD!

It’s a crazy time of year isn’t it??? I feel I have fallen off the rails somewhere.  I need a holiday.  Oh! That’s right, I just got back a week ago from one. :/

Anyway,  you know how you get wedding invites at least 6 weeks before the Big Day.  So you know it is coming up. Haha! Well yes Josh has another wedding to go to today so of course I made a card late yesterday afternoon.  I had literally 15 minutes before I picked up my daughter from work.

Sorry the photo isn’t even great as it was late last night when I took a photo.  I had done a quick search on Pinterest earlier in the day to get ideas so I was inspired by one I saw on there – and it was quick!!  Isn’t that bad for a wedding. 😦

I used the Floral Themes stamp set.  The paper is from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper pack.  Who would have thought!  I think it took most of the time to tie the ribbon!

To add to the dramas I had all my clear stamping blocks out in my studio for classes this weekend and I was in too much hurry to go outside and get them.  So I put the stamps on an inkpad to stamp it.  The trouble with that though is you can’t see where you are stamping.  Hehe! It was a bit of a gamble.  That explains the slight angle on the sentiment. 🙂

Later on I added an insert in the card. I added a piece of white copy paper and stamped the sentiment from the Rose Wonder set.  Sorry I didn’t take a photo.  I did relent and go and get a stamping block though.   I also got my Adhesive Pearls which were out in the studio too.  I think that finishes it off.

So a very quick card but my son was happy.

I need to make up a batch of wedding cards.  I say that all the time… He already has 2 invites on the fridge for the New Year.

So there you go.  I hope life isn’t too crazy for you.  I hope to come up for air soon.

Have a great weekend,

Jenny

IT’S ALL WEDDINGS!

Last week I had a big week making wedding cards.  I had 8 to make all up.  Two were for a family wedding last week and one for a family friend and then Josh has 5 weddings coming up.  Yes, 5!

So I thought I would share them with you.  The lighting is not great for these.  Sorry but I hope it gives you a good idea.

This first one uses the retired Bundle of Love DSP. I had a small piece left which I thought would work a treat AND one last little embellishment.  The card base is Sahara Sand.  The sentiment is from Rose Wonder.  The ribbon is the Very Vanilla Satin ribbon retired also. I cut a leaf spray in Sahara Sand and in Vellum. This was for our nephew’s wedding.

This one I made for my Mother In Law to give our nephew (her grandson) as she was unwell to make a card.  The hearts are from Sunshine Wishes cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Rich Razzleberry card. The sentiment and the little swirly flourishes are from Floral Phrases.  The main colour is Rich Razzleberry and I used some Rich Razzleberry Cotton ribbon (retired).

I made a couple of these ones below in Sweet Sugarplum using Sunshine Wishes and Floral Phrases again. This time the sentiment is from Rose Wonder.  I have used the retired Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon.

These next 2 I made the same.  I made 2 in Island Indigo and 2 in Crumb Cake. These cards were inspired by an idea on Pinterest.

To create this card:

I cut the flower (from the Rose Garden Thinlits) from the Whisper White card and then embossed it with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. This piece was adhered to the card mat (Crumb Cake or Island Indigo.  Then I adhered the Die cut flower on to the card and adhered the whole piece to the Thick Whisper White card base.  I cut a leaf spray from Crumb Cake (or Island Indigo) and also with Vellum.  The sentiment is from Rose Wonder set.   On these I added a little bow with either the White  Baker’s Twine or Linen Thread.

Perhaps Linen Thread is not considered very elegant for weddings but based on a number of the invitations that Josh has received they are quite often very rustic in the crumb cake colour or with doilies and/or tied up with twine. So I think these were well suited.

Hope they inspire you for your next wedding cards.  These will get me by for a couple of months!!

Have a great day,

Jenny

FLORAL PHRASES WEDDING CARD!

Last weekend I had a wedding to go to.  It was a lovely occasion and special to see.  I thought I would show you the card.

The base card is Dapper Denim.  You might be able to see the sparkling card mat.  I have layered the stamped white piece on to Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  Just a tip:  Save your Glimmer paper and cut a rectangle from the centre of the Glimmer Paper to use on another project.  You have the frame shape to use for this project. On the white card I stamped the floral strips and layered on 2 hearts from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits.  One heart is from Dapper Denim and the other heart from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  The sentiment is from Rose Wonder.

I stamped the inside too.  (The photos seems a bit washed out sorry!).

I stamped the floral strip again and this sentiment is from Rose Wonder also.  This is a great set for weddings.

To finish the card I added a bow with the Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny

I realised I had never posted this tag.  I made this tag the same time I made the Z-Fold card above. It was just a simple tag and I didn’t bother sharing it. I shared it on a group I am on though and someone Pinned it to Pinterest. It has now been repinned 5,700 times!  Sorry you missed out on seeing it. 🙂

ROSE WONDER WEDDING CARD!

Today we went to a wedding.  It was a really lovely service and special to be a part of it. This was for friends of Josh’s and he was one of the Groomsmen.  He looked pretty swish if you ask me but I can say that because I am his mum. 🙂

We managed to grab a family snap.  It is not often that we are all together. I don’t often share family stuff here but today I will….. 🙂

at-jono-and-felicitys-wedding

Anyway, you didn’t come here to see family snaps you want to see crafty projects.  I wanted to share the Wedding card I made.  Now I have known about this wedding for months as you do but I just didn’t know how to go about this card.  The Invitation had Ombre blue stripes so I considered working something in with that but I ended up with this.  Hope the Bride and Groom like it.

wedding-_-rose-wonder-2

I went with Dapper Denim card base and Soft Sky mat.  On the White card I stamped the sentiment from Rose Wonder. If you can see closely at the bottom is a new Embossing Folder from the Upcoming Occasions Catalogue.  I broke it out of it’s package just for this! This is the ‘Falling Petals’ Textured Impressions Folder.  They look like falling hearts.  Just a couple of Tips with this folder:  1) When you emboss you might get little marks or the “hearts” squished looking.  I added a piece of scrap paper in the folder on top of the card when I embossed it which prevented this. 2) This embossing folder covers the full card but I didn’t want all the card covered only to emboss just the bottom edge. This was hard to do because of the position of the hearts.  So I cut a separate small strip of Whisper White card the width of the full white card piece and embossed just the strip.  Then I adhered that piece straight on to the card. You wouldn’t even know!

The ribbon used is not Stampin’ Up!  The larger swirly hearts are cut from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits.  I cut one in Dapper Denim and one in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. The little sparkly heart is a heart punched from the 2-Step Owl Punch in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  It adds a little sparkle.

This is the inside of the card.

wedding-_rose-wonder-_inside

Mmm? Shame the lighting isn’t great.  The weather has been a bit funny.  Hope you get the idea anyway.

This sentiment is also from Rose Wonder set.  I thought it needed something else to the inside so I punched some little hearts from the 2-Step Owl Punch in Dapper Denim and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

Thanks for visiting today.

WATER SPRITZING TUTORIAL!

A few weeks ago for Onstage I didn’t have an opportunity to make swaps to share with other demonstrators.  Life has been a little busy. 🙂  I did make a card for the Display boards though where you can add your swap cards or samples.  They are always so inspiring and is a big part of why I love to go.  It’s like a live Pinterest board!!!! 😉

I thought it was time to show you the card. This is a technique I have been playing around with recentlly. I don’t really know what the name of the technique is but I call it the Water Spritzed technique. I will show you how to do this below so read on.

This is my card I made for the board.

waterspritzed_Bythetide

You can see the little “splodges” in the ink where the colour has lifted. It creates a cool motley effect.  Here is how it is done.

WATER SPRITZED TECHNIQUE

1. Using Thick Whisper White or Shimmery white cardstock, heat emboss your images.  On these I embossed the coral and the fish with white Embossing powder.  I stamped the seahorse with Black Stazon.  It is important to emboss or to use the Stazon so the ink on the images don’t run when you spritz.

2. Use your first colour and sponge in patches over the card. I have used Bermuda Bay here.

P1180329

Then add your 2nd colour.  I have used Daffodil Delight.

P1180331

3. Fill in with your 3rd colour.  I have used Marina Mist I think.  It’s good to have 3 co-ordinating colours. Once you have sponged the colours on, use a tissue to wipe off the ink where the images are embossed.  This makes the embossing shine.

P1180332

4. With a spritzer with water or I use an old Stampin’ mist bottle, hold the bottle a little away and lightly spray the card.  You don’t want to soak the card just lightly mist.  You will see some of the colour start to lift.  Mist until you are happy with the coverage.  Keep the card level or you will start to have runs from the water running down. Leave the card aside on the table for a few minutes.  The longer you leave the card, the more effect you will get.  Finish off drying your card with the Heat Tool lightly.  You don’t want to melt your embossed images any more.

P1180334

You can now finish your card as you like.

Here is the first card I made using this effect. I have used Rose Wonder set. Thank you to my friend Leonie for showing me this technique.  We made this card at my last technique class too. I have heat embossed the images in white,  The inks I have used are Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise and Bermuda Bay.

image-6194

I made another card that day but I didn’t leave the water sitting on the card for long so it doesn’t have as much mottling.  I was a little disappointed with the colour combination. I used Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron I think and Lavender Lace. I thought I would show you the card anyway. This is using Birthday Blossoms.

image-6191

So how about you have a try at this technique.  Each time you do one it will turn out different. It’s fun.

Thanks for visiting me today.  Have a wonderful day/night.

A CARD MADE BY JOSH!

OK, I know I have posted today BUT… I have to share this with you.  My Son Josh (19) often asks me ON THE DAY for a card. Well, yesterday he asked if I would help him make a card for a friend who is in hospital.  Oh my!! My heart skipped a beat….. 🙂

Finally this afternoon we got around to making it.  It was hot BUT this had to be done.  He had asked her the colours that make her happy and she replied with Forest Green, Navy, Mustard!!!! OK????!!!

I had already picked out the set ‘Rose Wonder’.  I thought the sentiments were very appropriate.  I picked a couple of other stamp sets out that I thought would be suitable AND would work with those colours.

Josh had an idea what he thought he might do.  I gave him a little direction with the colours AND I have to say scaling back a little on the stamping.  He was quite ready to stamp every stamp on there. 🙂  I also suggested raising up the sentiment.

So here is the finished card.

image-5337

Night of Navy is the card base and then a mat of Crushed Curry.  The bush from ‘Awesomely Artistic’ is stamped in Mossy Meadow. I did add a little glitter with the Wink of Stella Clear Brush but it doesn’t show up very well in the photo.

Since it was a Night of Navy card base I suggested we have some white card inside.  So he stamped inside as well.

image-5338

We used ‘Awesomely Artistic’ and ‘Gorgeous Grunge’.

Now he has given me permission to post this.  I am very proud of him.  He could have just got me to make one for him but I thought this is a tremendous effort.  He was very impressed with it all and of course loved the Big Shot.  Don’t we all!

So I hope you might stand with me and give him a round of applause for such a great effort – and for his thoughtfulness. 🙂 That’s my boy!

I will be back again soon.  Or maybe I will get Josh to make another card to share. 😉

BLOOMIN’ HEART BUTTERFLY!

I have another card for you today using the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits.  This card uses the Thinlits in a different way.  I saw this idea on Pinterest and other blogs and thought I just have to try this myself.

5154

I first cut the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits from Calypso Coral card then placed the large Bold Butterfly Framelits over the heart and cut it out. I cut a second butterfly straight from Calypso Coral card.  I adhered the both together.

To assemble the card I embossed a piece of Whisper White card with the Fluttering Embossing Folder and layered this piece on to black card and adhered the both pieces to a Calypso Coral card base.

I cut some leaf stems from vellum using the Rose Garden Thinlits and placed them behind the butterfly.  I think it gives a little softness.  The greeting is from the Rose Wonder set and cut with the matching frame.  I added some silver metallic Thread behind the label.  In the centre of the butterfly I added a White Baker’s Twine bow and a Metal Rimmed Pearl.

I was really pleased how this turned out.  I hope you might like it too.

Have a great day/night wherever you may be.

Jenny
