PAPER ADVENTURES TEAM BLOG HOP – APRIL 2020!

I’m so honoured to be hopping along as a Guest with Kelly Kent and the Paper Adventures Team today.  Such a creative group of people. 🙂

The Blog Hop this month is a colour Theme with Pretty Peacock, Whisper White and Melon Mambo.  I love both these colours but have to say haven’t used these colours together.  So I wasn’t sure what I would do with them.

This is the card I have created.  I think we are all dreaming of a tropical paradise right now. 🙂

I have used the Timeless Tropical Bundle for this card.  The card was based on a recent Fab Friday sketch #187.

The frangipani flowers are stamped in Memento Black Ink on to Shimmery White card.  I took the liberty to use this card for the watercolouring. 🙂  The flowers were coloured with the ink pad and the Aquapainter.

The Pretty Peacock card piece was cut with one of the Stitched Nested Dies and then embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder.

When I was assembling the card I felt the white card was a bit plain.   I lightly swiped over some ink with the Aquapainter and Melon Mambo Ink.  I would suggest you use the Shimmery White for this or even Watercolour paper.  The Whisper White “pills” up a bit.  It was risky but I thought I might be stretching it to use the Shimmery White for that.  It turned out ok but then it is partly covered. 🙂

Now continue on your Blog Hop.  You are off to Siobhan’s blog -> HERE or click on the NEXT button below.

Thanks for hopping with me and the Paper Adventures Team.

CHRISTMAS GLEAMING HOLLY!

A couple of weeks ago on my Facebook and Instagram I shared a photo of holly that I was colouring.  I finished the card and thought I would show you now.

The holly was watecoloured using the Aquapainter and the ink refill. The card was inspired by a card in the catalogue (p30).  I changed mine a little but I have to say I was really happy how the holly turned out as I am not great at colouring.

Some of the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Paper was layered on to the Pretty Peacock card base before assembling the rest of the card.

The white rectangle was cut with a rectangle from the Rectangles Stitched Dies. You don’t need much to the rest of the card with the gorgeous Brightly Gleaming Specialty paper.  I punched an ornament out from the paper and the other one was stamped with one of the ornaments in the Christmas Gleaming stamp set on to Pretty Peacock card and punched out. What about the cute little Copper Star Designer Elements??

Glad that I can show you the finished card finally.  Hope you like it.

Happy Stamping,

Jenny

COLOUR INKSPIRATION CHALLENGE #58!

It’s been some time since I have been able to play along with the Colour INKspiration Challenges – or any challenges really.  So the other day I had a little time so thought I was going to do one.

This week’s Colour INKspiration Challenge #58 is using the colours: Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Gold Foil.  You can follow along -> HERE.

Here is my card.  I thought the colours suited a Vintage Style or for a sweet Baby card.  I went with a Baby card.  The new stamp set Wildly Happy arrived last week so thought this was a great opportunity to ink it up.

The bunny and the sentiment were heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. I used the Shimmery White card. I lightly watercoloured the bunny using the Blushing Bride inkpad and an Aquapainter. A decorative strip and little flower was diecut from Gold Foil using the Flourish Thinlits dies.

Then I went a little “arty”.  On the Shimmery White card mat I flicked some Blushing Bride ink splatters by adding some Blushing Bride ink to a Clear Block, adding a littler water with the Aquapainter and then flicking it off the block gently on to the card.  I was a little nervous doing this as it is not something I have done before and wasn’t sure how much control I had – but it worked ok.

If you have time why not play along with this challenge.  They are fun to be a part of and to really extend/challenge your creativity.  Have a go!  (I added the link above).

Thanks for looking,

Jenny

FROGGY WINDOW!

It’s all about the frogs this week.  The Frogs in the Sale-A-Bration So Hoppy Together set.  They are cute little characters.

I had this idea in my head using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits to create a window for the cute little froggy on his unicycle.

A window was diecut in the Grapefruit Grove card base using one of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and some of the little flies were stamped around the edge.  The sentiment is from the Amazing Life stamp set and punched with the Classic Label Punch.

On a piece of Shimmery White card I stamped the unicycle froggy.  JUST A TIP: Place the Shimmery White card inside the Grapefruit Grove card so you can see through the window to position where to stamp. The frog was stamped and then coloured with Watercolour Pencils and the Aquapainter. On a scrap piece of Shimmery White I stamped and coloured the little butterfly and then fussy cut it.  No Framelits for this – YET!! 😉  I added some sparkle with the Wink of Stella.  It is hard to see it though.

Watch out for more frogs this week.

Have a great week.

Jenny

The So Froggy stamp set is a free Sale-A-Bration choice with orders over $90.  See it in store now -> HERE.

BIRTHDAY CHEER EASEL CARD!

I held a Birthday Cheer class on the weekend.  It was showcasing the great Birthday Cheer Bundle from the Occasions Catalogue and making some fun cards with it.  I don’t often share my class cards with you but I thought I would share with you about this.

One of the cards I made was an Easel card.  This card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest.

This first card was the card I made to share at the class. Everyone thought it was nice.  It was using the gorgeous Grapefruit Grove Foil Sheets from Sale-A-Bration. (On a side note did you know that this foil is nearly sold out?? You might want to grab this as your next free choice for Sale-A-Bration). It is so shiny.

The single cupcake is stamped in Stazon and watercoloured with the inkpads. There is a die to cut it too.

The Easel card is very easy to make.

To make one: Take a standard sheet of card. Cut it in half vertically. Take one of those halves and score it in half and then score one of those sections in half again.  Then fold up to create an easel.

With any type of Easel card you need something on the base as a stopper to hold up the Easel.  For this one I used the Oval sentiment piece.

While I made this card and used this for the class I had a different idea in my head but it wasn’t working before the class.

During the class when I was demonstrating this I played around with it and created this version below.  Everyone loved this idea even more and made this one instead for their card.  So I thought you might like to see it then.

I created the Easel card the same with the cutting and scoring.  This time though I rearranged the pieces.  So simple really but so much more effective.  Adhere your diecut cupcake border behind the Mint Marcaron card piece.  For the stopper on this I used the cupcake.

Doesn’t that create a bit more of a WOW??

Why not create your own.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jenny

ON MY MIND FROGGY!

There are some great free sets for your Sale-A-Bration choices this year but none more cooler than the So Hoppy Together set.  I have played around with this set recently.  This is just one of the cards to share with you.

Isn’t he a cute fellow?  I stamped him first over the Coastal Cabana base card in Coastal Cabana Ink.  I stamped him also in Stazon on white card and coloured him in with the Watercolor Pencils.  Then lightly washed over him with the Aquapainter.   The white card was then cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  A strip of Granny Apple card was embossed with the Sparkle Embossing Folder.

I like making Thinking of You or Hello type cards to send out to people.  I love this sentiment from the new Butterfly Gala set.  I think I will be using this sentiment a bit.  I stamped it on to a strip of white card and cut it with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and cut a strip of Granny Apple Green card too and offset it under the sentiment piece.  Of course, bling to finish with an adhesive Rhinestone.

I have more froggy cards to come.  You can see the So Hoppy Together set and all the other free Sale-A-Bration choices in my store -> HERE.  Remember to grab your free choice with your $90 or $180 AUS order. Thank you for your order too.

SNOWFLAKE SHOWCASE WEEK – DAY 3 – AND A VIDEO FOR WEDNESDAY’S WOW!

Day 3 of our Snowflake Showcase Week.  Half-way through.  Today’s card is simple really but I think effective – and they can turn out differently each time.

The background for this card is a Watercolour wash.  I have used Bermuda Bay and of course the Snow is Glistening stamp set and Snowfall Thinlits.

The large snowflake is cut from the White Velvet Paper. Have I told you how soft and furry it is?  So nice and adds such a lovely texture to your projects.  I have also used the Silver Glimmer Paper and the tiny snowflake is from the White Velvet Paper too.

Do you want to see how I have done the Watercolour Wash background?  Since it is a Wednesday and time for Wednesday’s WOW! #45 I thought I would combine the two.  How about that. 🙂

You can see the video below. (NB: If you receive the blog updates by email and the video hasn’t shown then click on the title at the top to go to the blog post and watch it there).

I am just starting out more with videos.  They are not easy let me say … 🙂 I would love to know your thoughts and if you have any suggestions to improve them, please drop a comment and let me know.

How are you liking the Snowflake Showcase products?  Have you bought any yet?

Just a reminder what these products are as you couldn’t see them well in the video.

If you are in Australia you can order these now from me.  Remember these are only available in November AND only while supplies last, so don’t delay with them.

Order in store -> HERE.  Please use the Host Code: KGQKCBA4

OR email me to arrange an order.

Thanks for watching.  Now go and try that wash technique.

WEDNESDAY’S WOW! #42 – COLOURING – WHAT PAPER, WHAT INK??

Wednesday’s come around so quickly but I love sharing little tips and videos with you on Wednesday’s.  Do you like them?

Today’s Wednesday’s WOW! #42 is what I hope will be a helpful little chart.  Which Ink and which paper to use when you are colouring.  I often get asked this question in classes so maybe you are wondering too.

I think the chart is self-explanatory but it goes through different colouring mediums – the Aquapainter or Blender Pens with the Inkpads,  Watercolour Pencils and Stampin’ Blends and which ink and paper to use with these.  It really makes a difference to the finished result with what you use.  Next time you come to watercolour I hope that you find this useful to refer to.

Hope that is helpful.
